Overview

Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands is a gothic fairy tale about an artificial man with scissors for hands who struggles to find belonging in a pastel suburban world.

For the film’s 25th anniversary, I helped develop refreshed key art and home-entertainment packaging that modernized the iconic imagery for contemporary streaming and retail platforms.

Role & Responsibilities

Role: Designer

Responsibilities:

  • Developed anniversary key art concepts honoring the film’s original visual language while updating the tone for modern audiences

  • Collaborated with the Creative Director to evolve the classic imagery into a refreshed direction

  • Designed home entertainment packaging and box set materials, including structural and graphic elements

  • Helped guide development through final key art execution and production-ready packaging assets

Campaign Concept

The anniversary key art centers on Edward and Kim in a romantic pose within Edward’s topiary garden, paired with an alternate solo portrait of Edward that emphasizes the character’s quiet isolation.

Process & Development

We developed a clear slipcover printed with a topiary silhouette shaped like Edward’s profile, revealing the full garden scene beneath when removed, extending the film’s visual motif into a tactile packaging experience.

Final Deliverables

- Key Art - Digital Assets - Home Entertainment Packaging

Recognition

The project earned my first CLIO Entertainment Award for Home Entertainment Packaging.
