city on a hill

  • City on a Hill is a crime drama set in 1990s Boston that explores corruption, power, and moral compromise. The campaign needed to capture the show's gritty realism and psychological tension while grounding the characters within an environment that felt harsh, oppressive, and inescapable.

I developed the campaign's key art direction, creating a visual system that used Boston itself as a storytelling device. Characters were positioned within icy streets, shadowed environments, and expansive negative space, reinforcing a sense of mounting pressure and inevitability. The composite builds were extensive and highly layered, contributing to the immersiveness. We ultimately built an atmospheric approach centered on textured imagery, restrained color palettes, and controlled compositions that reflected the tension on screen.

To extend the campaign beyond traditional marketing materials, I designed an award-winning press kit inspired by a security evidence bag. Embossed stitching, leather detailing, brass-inspired hardware, metallic inks, and a soft-touch finish transformed the package into a tactile storytelling object that reinforced themes of investigation, secrecy, and hidden truths. The kit housed a saddle-stitched booklet and DVD within a layered, dimensional format.
